Architecture is responsible of roughly 50% of the earth’s energy consumption. We believe we live in an exciting period. With our knowledge and technology we have the capacity not just to develop buildings or cities which reduce their energy-hunger and, as a consequence, their ecological footprint, but we can create spaces and buildings which produce more energy than they actually need. Decentralized energy- and food production within urban agglomerations. Every built entity has to be a contribution to increase the overall energy efficiency of cities. Therefor architecture, energy-design and urban operations, by definition, different in their scale, cross-fertilize themselves and become, as a result, an indissociable statement.
